HEY, I got to see Fats in concert in a small movie house in Rogers Arkansas about 1961. He had the whole band of brass then. (he blew the doors off) That was his original sound. He's such a unique dude and a fave for the next 100 years. I'm surprised that the studio didn't trick-up his voice a bit for this attempt to be "in the groove" for the day by Fats. He probably told 'em, no effects on me, guys!...

Guys, this is NOT the original version. McCartney wrote it, sang it in imitation of Fats, and Fats covered it in 1968.

Paul said that of all the Beatles cover versions Fats Domino's "Lady Madonna" ranked among the best because of him being a Fats Domino fan and to have the man himself record one of his songs was such a big honor.

It's not better. Musically it's almost identical. Vocally, McCartney's original version is superior.
