When this album first came out I asked Billy Gould if this song was about the city of Pristina to which he replied "we have many Serbian friends"....I've always interpreted this song as sort of a solemn FNM nod to all of the tragedies that followed the breakup of Yugoslavia... Not sure if that was the intent, but its certainly become the lasting sentiment that sticks with me.

From Album of the Year, here is Pristina. There is something about this song that it truly amazing. According to an interview back in 97, they said the following. "This song took quite a bit of work in the studio because there are so many big open chords of distorted guitar, which doesn't leave much room for anything else. You've got room for drums, vocals, and maybe a deep bass, but trying to get the strings to cut through was a challenge. We spent a lot of time EQing and working with them to get hem placed just right."So tell me, why do you like this song? What does it remind you of?

I was recently backpacking in the Balkans earlier this year. I spent a lot of weeks in Serbia and certainly know that you guys get a bad wrap. Serbs are some of the coolest people I've ever had the luck to encounter. I have so many great memories and made some good friends. I was also lucky enough to catch Faith No More at Belgrade Calling festival which was incredible. Much love from Australia.

I was born in Pristina and lived there until '99. We were forced to leave our land.I know many stories about many Serbs who were kidnapped,raped and abused.I know because some members of my family were one of them.And it makes me sick when I see all the lies that politicians and foreigns medias spread.It's always about one side, albanian side.Today,considering the number of refugees Serbia is 1st country in Europe and 13th country in the world!And they call us the bad guys.Is there any sense?

I think that this album came out in mid off 1997, which means that song is made out earlier than that, while war on Kosovo and Metohija started in 1998 and culminated through 1999, so I'm not sure that song is really about war or about Albanian couple which has been separated by war,which other sources are claiming. But I must say that if he really said something bad about Serbs and later played at EXIT festival in Serbia,he can eat big fat dick.
