One of the most beautiful songs I ever heard. I have sung it many times since but could never hope to reach the level of this version!

Probably one of the most beautiful voices that ever graced this earth.

this is the first time I have heard this by Donovan.I have heard many versions of this great trad. song & I must say this is my new favorite version.partly because it only took me 10 min. to learn to play & sing it, but mostly because it's great.

I've been listening to (and playing) Scottish music for over 45 years and I've never heard anything more mesmerizing... I've got a lump in my throat.

To ADugas661+ all. Just out of interest you may try Davy Graham's Indo-Irish instrumental version of it. There are also versions of it played upon the Uillean pipes which are possibly the closest anything can come to Sandy's gorgeous heart-busting rendition. There is such a history to this piece going back in tradition a couple of hundred years. If you are in love with it, even if only through dear Sandy, you will find researching it rewarding. Its brimming with history and some controversy. D.

To ADugas661. Mr. Frank was a very powerful character. He had his circle of friends and I was not in it. Could give a cracker of a performance whilst being very "laid back". Les Cousins was quite a linear performing area and so most of the audience space was within intimate distance of the artist, As a performer I actually found that a tad unnerving when I hadn't made a very good job of a number. Twice Mr. Hendrix turned up, played acoustic and was most charming unassuming and approachable. D.

Thought I'd give it a shot, recollections of Nick Drake seem to be few and far between. But wow, you certainly seem to have been at a real musical and cultural epicenter. All of those artists are wonderful, but Jackson C Frank is another one of those elusive legends, what was it like meeting him? I know he dated Sandy Denny for a time.

To ADugas661. No I never met him. The last all-nighter I hosted was in 1967 and the last gig I did there was very early 1969. Among those I did meet are: Bert Jansch, June Tabor, Jackson C Frank, Davy Graham, Al Stewar, John Martyn and a certain Steve Adams who later changed his name to Cat Stevens. D.

They were actually much more important/influential. Nick Drake didn't get a lot attention until much later on.

l used to host allnighters at Les Cousins in Soho. Sandy would sing on a "spot". She drank Coca Cola mixed with milk and l really, really should never have commented on it. She never liked me after that. l always loved her though, or specifically that damn voice of hers and how she used it. To this day l've yet not tried Coke and Milk mix!!

Faiport Convention were equally as important as Nick Drake in folk rock.

One of my favorite songs by sandy and the Fairports. Beautiful guitar by Richard Thompson and interesting bass lines by Ashley Hutchings, even the drumming is quite relaxing by the late Martin Lamble. Lovely, calming musical arrangement. Sandy's singing voice was exquisite, ethereal, and the most beautiful one could imagine! A voice from the heavens in my opinion. Gorgeous contra alto with five octaves! To this day, I cannot think of a female singer with a voice more gorgeous than Sandy's!
