position the phantom rigged in reflective tape.

situated like a makeshift antenna, grinning like tinfoil.

we're losing reception. we can't pick up the game.

i should be discontinued.

i am a broadcasting embarrassment.

hiss like the damned.

decoding the transmitted pulse that dispatch from her lips.

i am not receiving a sign that says i am still here anymore.

do you hear me?

am i coming through at all?

is any of this making sense?

you've got a ghost on your hands.

a televisual image only partially clear.

scrambled phantom (i wish we'd all just stop talking at once).

spitting and cursing from the scrapheap we're on.

you should have lost your cool.

Here's the difference, if you don't scream properly and do scream, you're permenantly hurting your voice. But if you don't actually scream but put an effect over it that makes it seem like you're screaming, it's fake and doesn't sound as good. It's kinda like listening to autotune. Also, Hardcore punk doesn't have to have screaming at all. (at least the old)hardcore punk usually just has normal aggresive vocals with more yelling/shouting, not screaming.

people who care about "proper screaming" are the reason hardcore music sucks dicks.

Nah dude it was on the first EP Burial Plot Bidding War that he had to use distortion on his voice. On this album he was actually screaming just not very well. He fucked his voice up and then got lessons from Melissa Cross and so now he does some of the most badass hardcore vocals

On this album keith couldn't even scream properly, he's using distortion(which he himself called the auto tune of metal/ hardcore). Now he can actually scream properly, and it sounds really good to be honest.

Progressed means moving forward, which is something they have done. Sure they softened up and maybe they aren't as complex, but it's still really good music, and if you listen they still do go just as hard, just not constantly through every song. Take the song cities and years off The Big Dirty for instance, the whole song is somewhat heavy but building up to the last part of the song which is SO fucking epic/heavy. Still great lyrics and still pushing it better than ever. Just my opinion.

have to agree with RUNTIME2012 with everything that he says, the singer songwriter Keith from ETID went to a prestigous college for literary writing, then came up with what i consider to be the very essence of hardcore music and wut i like to call "memorable quotes"..... and all done before the metal saturation of 2005, u sir can suck some balls

The whole band is great except the singer. He thinks by screaming his lungs out he plays an important or quality part in the band, even though any untalented idiot can replace him. I listen to DEP Calculating Infinity (so don't prejudge about my music tastes), and even though the vocals aren't anything special in that either, the singer knows when to stop and let the instrumental part do the work, this asshole is just annoying and it's a shame imo, since the guitars and drums sound great.

You're entitled to your opinion, even if you are just another metalhead retard. Keith is fucking awesome. This song is fucking awesome. This album is fucking awesome. This band is fucking awesome. If you want something more melodic, go back to your Taylor Swift record. The instrumentals and vocals work together like sex and cigarettes. You have to "get it", as pretentious as that sounds.

@xdoseonex this song ends with a chug/minor 2nd breakdown. Yes they have progressed. Not saying that this record is bad but they are one of the few bands who can remain heavy by not being br00tal.

@IanRoantree close match to Cities and Years.

@lits2722 Progressed? The new songs have none of the complexity, creativity, or originality that the old ones had. The started making pop-party music and your going to say they progressed? I completely disagree.

I wouldn't say it's better than their new music.. but it's definitely not worse. I like how they've progressed but still love their old music. Also.. the lyrics in this song kick ass.
