David Werden, euphonium recital at University of Wisconsin / Eau Claire on Feb. 10, 2013. This piece opened the second half of the recital. It is part of a 2-movement suite I just arranged (Two Songs from Holst's Second Suite), the "March" that is so well known among euphonium players. With me is Barbara Young, piano.

This arrangement is NOW available for immediate download from: http://www.sheetmusicplus.com/title/Two-Holst-Songs/19868298?aff_id=15680

Or you can purchase the hard-copy sheet music here: http://www.sheetmusicplus.com/title/Two-Holst-Songs/19865331?aff_id=15680

Is there any way to get a recording of just the piano accompaniment?

I played this solo in my senior year high school concert band. It was the highlight of my musical career. I am starting playing again for the first time in almost 20 years.

Thank you Mr. Werden and Mrs. Young. Your rendition makes my day. This is the first time I hear my favorite march played as a duet, Euphonium and Piano. Great!!!!!!

Lovely - Any chance you could issue this arrangement in treble clef Bb? (my son plays a Bb baritone)

Very beautiful playing. I love the evenness of tone throughout all registers of your playing. Not to mention, your sound is truly a pleasure to hear; it's glorious.

It's nothing I would choose to write. The band version is a classic, and the lyrical solo is already a feature for euphonium within the band. Euphonium also gets to play some of the 6/8 melody, so it's already a great piece to play just as Holst wrote it! But we don't always have a band with us while playing a recital ;-)

Could this be accompanied with a band?

Just expand the video's description. There are links there for either the downloadable or the printed version.

Also as a side note; where would I find this arrangement?

Ah I played this song in a concert band situation last year at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp. Amazing song! You sound terrific'!

I don't understand your question. I am playing a true euphonium in this video, and that is my primary instrument. (I also own a true British-bore baritone; you can find a video of my playing it on An die Musik on YouTube.)

Why do you recommend a true baritone over a euphonium?

Kyle Aufderhar

No, that is an Adams compensating euphonium.
