Eric Clapton - "Third Degree"

Live at Madison Square Garden, New York, September 18, 1995.

Eric Clapton at his absolute best, a soulful, relaxed, but still sharp version of this blues classic.

I still can't get over the tone of that Gibson on this recording! :-)

That Gibson ES-335 just has the greatest tone on this song. This has a slow but interesting vibe about it. The crowd at MSG seems to really like it. The version of this song from the cd "From the Cradle" has Clapton using a cleaner tone, most likely a Strat. Thanks for the post!

@19CACTUS51 Have you heard much of Frank Zappa's guitar playing? He has done quite a lot for the guitar. Robert Fripp is just as insane too probably.

If I played elevator music like Clapton I'd look relaxed too.

It's Jimmie Lee Vaughan, to be correct. ;-)

Hey scoonman, his name is not Jimmy Ray Vaughn. It's Jimmy Vaughn. His brother was Stevie Ray Vaughn. I'll bet the guys who were smoking pot knew Jimmy Vaughn's correct name. lol.

I was at this show and the thing that amazed me is how relaxed Clapton looks when he plays, meanwhile he is making the paint peel off the walls. Next to Hendrix, this man is the greatest guitarist in the world. On a sidenote, on the night of this show, 2 guys were sitting 3 rows in front of us smoking dope. The usher asked them to stop and then left. They relit, and the usher came back and kicked them out before Clapton ever hit the stage. All they saw was Jimmy Ray Vaughn for their money lol.
