Great music. But why does Van appear to be a miniature person? So bizarre.

Incredible. Wait till you see Glen Hansard and "the boss" on one stage though. Such things only dreams are made of.

Your comparisn is completely invalid. All three are completely different players and great in their own right. It's like comparing Bach and Beetoven. Just enjoy the music, Rob.

God knows why people are so polite to you. You're just the type of moron who ruins comments pages.

I've encountered that too Jerry. I suppose the bad experiences stand out because they are exceptional rather than the norm. That said you appear to be blessed living in Nashville, whilst it's best known for its Country connections even the Country players based there can seem to be able to turn their skills to other genres. Plus the city seems to be large enough to support a whole variety of music scenes .... at least that's the impression I get from tv and the net anyway! :)

Matter of fact, I just got back from a jam, and it went really well. I have audio, but no video -- I think I might start bringing a camcorder and posting some of these jams to show people how it's done down this way. And for the record, it WAS a blues jam. Nashville has a WHOLE LOT more than just country music!

Monty: I am fortunate enough to live in Nashville, and for the most part, the musicians are good enough that everyone knows when to lay back and when to step up. There ARE exceptions to that rule, but for the most part they are younger players who are still learning so most of us give them a little leeway.

There's nothing worse at a jam session than playing with 'musicians' who are so wrapped up in themselves that they don't pay attention to changes in dynamics, just playing at high volume and, quite often, shedloads of distortion. I've walked off the stage/playing area on occasion because I couldn't hear myself play or sing! As for EC, he may not be the fiery player of his youth but his empathy with other musicians and singers is almost unparalleled, Peter's comment notwithstanding. :)

Couldn't have said it better myself! As a blues player who still goes to 3-5 jams a week, I know what you're talking about!

Of course it's a blues jam, and having played and listened to it being done extremely badly I believe that there are a lot of players who would benefit by paying the kind of attention to their fellow musicians that EC does to VM here. :)
