Lyrics:

Born to fight, and we're born to flee

Doomed to live on ecstasy

Born to lie, and we're born to cheat

Look in the mirror, who do you see?

Born to flee, and we're born to fight

Without your mask, you're terrified

Don't hide your personality

That's who you are, your identity

If the virtues of tomorrow

Cause the greed of today

We won't have a future

Nor liberty

Born to breathe, and we're born to pursue

That's all we are supposed to do

The semblance of our liberty

Is nothing more than slavery

Born to flee, and we're born to fight

Is it failure that's our delight?

Born to cheat, and we're born to lie

Look at yourself, have you lost your mind?

If the virtues of tomorrow

Cause the greed of today

We won't have a future

And no more liberty

If the virtues of tomorrow

Set the need on the way

We won't have a future nor liberty

Private vice leads to public virtue

Raised to think that we are free

Living in our caves

Being slaves

We lost control of our lives

At the mercy of the waves

Massive waves

Blind to see what's going on

Conditioned as we are

And we are

We lost control of our greed

But now we face it all

Face our fall

Keeping all that we've created

And consuming all that's possible

Reaching deep into temptation

Nothing can stop us

Guarantee our hard-earned profits

Multiplied ten-fold if possible

Reaching out for new redemption

Nothing avails our needs

"My opponent won't rule out raising taxes.

But I will. And the Congress will push me to raise taxes and I'll say no.

And they'll push, and I'll say no, and they'll push again, and I'll say, to them, Read my lips'."

If the virtues of tomorrow

Cause the greed of today

We won't have a future

And no more liberty

If the virtues of tomorrow

Set the need on the way

We never had a future anyway

We had no future 'till today

Time and tide

Will not wait for anyone

There is just no comparing those two.

So you have to choose between the two just because they both have female singers? You can't like both?

Another band I am quite fond of is Nightwish, but ONLY with Tarja Turunen as the lead singer (Tarja Soile Susanna Turunen Cabuli is her full married name). People in the Netherland and the Dutch and such seem to have two middle names for some reason. Simone Simons whole name is Simone Johanna Maria Simons. EPICA RULES, but they are not the only band out there. Just keep that in mind. This was a long story just to make a point, but surely you see where I am coming from. Have fun.

I love Epica. As I have said, they are my favorite band, and Ariën van Weesenbeek is my favorite drummer. I will evolve into my own style, but he will be my biggest influence. Do yourself a favor. Pull out your old Evanescence CDs or YouTube videos and give them a listen. You might be glad you did. While their styles are different, they both make awesome music. Yes I like Epica better, just like you, but that takes nothing away from Evanescence. Listen again. Simone won't know.

So we will probably start out playing rock, maybe a little country thrown in. I love Travis Tritt and his heavy hitting music. This will get us a following, then we can slowly progress to harder rock, then eventually to metal, hopefully Symphonic Metal. Will any of this come to be? I don't know for sure, but I could be a drummer in an average band right now, but I have a whole lot to learn. Amy Lee and Evanescence is different from Simone Simons and Epica. One is rock, and the other is metal.

We may never make that much money, Even half that would be a comfortable living with no payments or debt beyond utilities, cable, etc. Am I bragging about how rich I am? No, I am making a point. We should be able to make a living doing what we LOVE in the future: playing and singing music. Surely we will start doing covers. Finally I will get to my point: Amy Lee is beautiful, and an excellent singer. My drum teacher has done Evanescence covers, but had never heard of Epica, and he is into music

That is a very decent living for a family of 5 who is debt free. At 36, I OWN my own land, and I OWN my own home. We OWN 2 older cars: a 96 Jeep Grand Cherokee and 2000 Oldsmoble Intrigue, but we own all of this. No car payments. No mortgage. Almost 4 acres in the north Georgia mountains. Well water and Septic systems are the way. No water bills. No Sewer bills. Just about $6-7 a month in electricity to run the well pump. I am a homeowner/landowner at 36, not a renter or a mortgage holder.

You do the math: $800 for me, $800 for my wife. That is $1,600 a night. Doing two shows a week on Friday and Saturday say, that is $1,600. If we had a steady following, and did two shows every week, that would be $3200 a week. There are 52 weeks in a year, so 52 times $3,200 is $166,400. Let's jus assume we make a little less or do a few less shows. I will round down to $150,000 a year for our family. This may take 3-5 years before I am to that level, and I don't know about her.

As a family, we would get half of the proceeds. She is very green. Mary La Mer is not. Check out her cover of Epica's songs. One is YTubedotCom/watch?v=R76seR7d0wMy davorites is Chasing the Dragon: Getting in a band with her would bring me world fame in no time at all. She has a very large YouTube following as is, just doing covers. On the other hand, if I get my skillset to a higher level and my wife catches up, we could start a band. My buddy says he gets as much as $800 a night.

My wife has been singing for years, and was in her High School Choir. She is now in our church choir. She recently purchsed a keboard with a few accessories and a beginners book on playing. Most band members split the profits equally. If she picks up the keyboard and also possibly piano quckly, we could form the core of a band. All we would need is a guitar player and a bassist. You can see where this is headed. Id she gets 25% as the lead singer, and I get 25% as the drummer. That is 50% we get

Is that all I am going to play? Nope. Not at least until I am good enough to be noticed. There is a girl here on Youtube who does a lot of covers, is beautiful, and has a wonderful singing and classical voice. She has progressed nicely. She does some Epica covers. Most are pretty good. Her Youtube channel is MakingTheMetalBand. Her name is Mary La Mer. I hope to start up a band with her even though she doesn't want to be in a band right now, despite her user name. We could be the American Epica.

I love music from like Hank Williams Jr, Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, George Jones, David Allen Coe, Johhny Rebel, Dwight Yokam, and Travis Tritt. I have started playing along with Travis Tritt, Ozzy, Evanescence. So why am I playing this stuff if I love metal? Because it sells and I want to make money. Call me a sellout if you want, but I want to earn a living with this gift God gave me, and perhaps even lead a few souls to Christ. Would I love to play metal exclusively? You bet your ass.

It didn't matter if the guys were married or not: It was agreed that she was quite attractive. My wife is no lesbo, but she even admits that she is very pretty. Because she is a brunette, I can get away with saying Siomon Simons is the most beautiful redhead in the world. I love her natural singing voice as well as her classical voice. She is awesome. I also like real country, especially "rock country". I despise the new "pop" country. I like old-timers and standouts.

Everyone got to choose a song. While his drunken wife was outside with a lot of the guests, my wife and I decided to listen to Epica's Martyr of the Free World. My wife overheard her say to others, "don't go back inside. They are playing some kind of strange music". She finally changed it, and that pissed us off and we were very vocal about it. My buddy took up for us and let us watch the video, and we also watched Epica's Solitary ground for contrast. Simone got the male's attention quickly.

Just like you, we mostly quit listening to Evanescence since we found Epica, but really they are not the same type of music. Metal being unpopular in the US was proven painfully to me recently at a new years eve party. Mybuddy was hosting it, and uses a pc to play Youtube videos on his widescreen TV. Most everyone was drinking, and his wife was plastered. A few folks were dancing, and most of us are in our 30's. M ost music was 80's crap. Pop and the like. Heaviest was Bon Jovi and GNR. SAD.

If you type in Evanescence, you will find videos with 70,000,000+ views, with most of them being in the 15,000,000 range. Now contrast that with Epica. You will find that the MOST views they have is a little under 16,000,000, a few with 5,000,000 views, a small handfull of those with 2,000,000, and the majority around a million or less. Sad but true, whether we like it or not. Evanescence is far more popular. It is American Rock, while Epica is primarily a Dutch symphonic metal band.

I have talked with him at great length about ALL of the aspects of being a professional musician. One thing he told me was that metal does not sell in America like it does in Europe, the Netherlands, Japan and south America. He said most people here want party music, music they can dance to. I will give you three examples of why he was right. First, no one I have talked to had heard of Epica, and it is not played on the radio here.Second, go to Youtube and type in both bands.
