I see this song as a man going through a difficult time and he starts having dark thoughts and he's having voices in his head. "Surrender the throne", which resembles giving into the thoughts and let them rule you. "I can hear them scratching at the door", which resembles the voices trying to get inside of him. And "let them sing"explains how he starts to let them torture him on the inside of his head. It really does make sense...

I think the irony of their term "wolves" refer to the church and Christianity. In "House Of Wolves" they talk about God being a lie so I believe The House Of Wolves is the church and its ironic because wolves represent intelligence and wisdom.
