10 de octubre de 1975 nace Vegard Sverre Tveitan en Notodden, Noruega.mejor conocido como ''Ihsahn'', es un compositor, guitarrista, bajista, teclista y vocalista nacido en Notodden, Noruega, conocido por su trabajo con la banda de black metal sinfónico Emperor. Ihsahn ha formado parte también de las bandas Thou Shalt Suffer y Peccatum, que fundó con su esposa Ihriel (de nombre real Heidi S. Tveitan), y actualmente está concentrado en su carrera en solitario, que produjo los álbumes The Adversary, angL, After y Eremita.Vegard Tveitan nació en el pequeño pueblo noruego de Notodden en 1975, comenzando a tocar el piano a los siete años y la guitarra a los diez.Tveitan conoció a Tomas Haugen (conocido como Samoth) a los trece años, en un seminario musical, entablando amistad debido a su gusto por la música de Iron Maiden. En 1991, ambos amigos formaron el grupo de death metal Thou Shalt Suffer, en la que Tveitan actuaba como teclista y guitarrista. Antes de que Haugen dejase la banda, ésta produjo algunos álbumes. De este modo, Thou Shalt Suffer continúa hasta hoy en día con Ihsahn como único miembro.Tras la marcha de Haugen de Thou Shalt Suffer, tanto él como Tveitan formaron Emperor, uno de los más reconocidos grupos de black metal de la escena de Noruega en el que Tveitan tocaba la guitarra y los teclados, aportando un sonido distintivo al grupo.
