The purity of Emma's voice is amazing and largely unrivalled today. She exercises superb vocal control without raising her shoulders or exerting her facial muscles. I think her greatest attribute is using as little vibrato as possible, which produces her signature sound. It is a very clean sound, enhancing her articulation of the words and improving her trills. An excellent singer, without doubt.

I remember seeing this on tv, in the late 80s? They would broadcast it on PBS every year. She is exquisite,pure, almost like a boy soprano.

Indeed it was written for three different voice parts: soprano, alto or bass. Take a listen to messiah as recorded by the Gabrieli Consort and I'm sure you will find the Fondling Hospital version quite convincing!
