Don't know if you are familiar with Dutch songstress Anneke van Giersbergen, if not you should check her out. Another excellent singer is Elize Ryd of Amaranthe. Not sure how heavy your listening tastes go but also you may enjoy Lahannya, Omega Lithium, Elis, Edenbridge. Bare Infinity, Eve Of Poison and Domina Noctis. I too am an older dude(55) and still love discovering wonderful new music!

I'm an old dude probably compared to the avg fan here. Love Heart and Berlin and just a few tracks of Evanescence (Bring Me To Life & My Immortal) but disappointed by their other stuff. Was despairing of nothing new in their league, but just recently explored outside my old iPod collection and discovered this whole genre of female-led gothic rock. Within Temptation, Nightwish, We Are the Fallen, etc. All good but I think this band Elysion is cream of the crop!
