I remember reading "Don Quixote" for the first time, and I just couldn't stop laughing. Cervantes' book is one of the finest literary works in history, and "Man Of La Mancha" is partly based on Cervantes' brilliant book. We have the beautiful theme of True Love exhibited by the Man Of la Mancha's willingness to do anything for his True Love. Elvis' rendition of "The Impossible Dream" from the Broadway production of "Man of La Mancha" is riveting. He could sing anything, and he proves this by singing a good old fashioned show song. Is the Man of La Mancha mad ,as everyone claims he is, or do the windmills that he fights a gesture of reality. Of course he is fighting an inanimate object, but he is convinced of the reality, so does that make his fight any less valid: "To be willing to march into hell/For a heavenly cause" is his truth. Mitch Leigh wrote the music and Joe Darion wrote the lyrics for this show originally starring Richard Kiley. Enjoy Elvis' performance :)
