Pete Seeger didn't consider Elvis a folk singer -- he's probably right because Elvis didn't design his career with those kinds of songs in mind. But, with Frankie & Johnny, Dylan's - Tomorrow Is a Long Time, Old Shep, Come Home Again, Kathleen, Wooden Heart, In the Ghetto, If We Never Meet Again and this one "Stay Away" (Greensleeves) -- I think qualifies Elvis as a folk singer by default. He certainly had many songs that if arranged or sung a certain way would be folk songs.
