On this day in 1971 {March 3rd} Elvis flew* from Los Angeles to Memphis; accompanied him were the duo The Carpenters, his step-brother Ricky Stanley, and back-up singer Charlie Hodge...At the time the Carpenters' "For All We Know" was at #7 on Billboard’s Hot Top 100 chart; and five days later on March 8th, 1971 it would peak at #3 {for 1 week} and spent 13 weeks on the Top 100...And on March 8th, 1971 Elvis' 121st Top 100 charted record, "Where Did They Go, Lord" b/w "Rags to Riches", entered the Top 100 at #60, and four weeks later on April 4th, 1971 it peaked at #33 {for 1 week} and stayed on the chart for 7 weeks...* A chartered airplane of course...
