With all due respect, Edwyn Collins is an inspirational figure. And Jonny is obviously just privileged to be affiliated with Edwyn through a mutual respect for one and others music. By saying Jonny deserved the solo is almost degrading the production and sentiment of the song. Don't get me wrong, The Drums are my favorite present band, but I think you've misconstrued the point.

Edwyn Collins w/ The Drums from last year's album. Five years ago, Collins, the former frontman for Glasgow's Orange Juice suffered a double stroke and basically had to learn how to speak and walk again, so this album is a pretty incredible testament to his determination. According to wikipedia, "the aphasia he suffered allowed him to repeat only four phrases, over and over again: 'yes', 'no', 'Grace Maxwell' and 'the possibilities are endless'." (Grace Maxwell is his wife's name.)

@CJoMc i recently did a TV studio shoot doing sound for edwyn hes a amazin and lovely guy but when they performed this song is son William sang the bits the drums guy sings and i gotta say he did a splendid job! you could see how proud edwyn was of his son, spectacular!
