This should have been released as a single. It's better than The Ash Version and far far better than Annie Lennox's cheesy attempt.

Better than the original, yes, but, all credit to Tim Wheeler, it is one outstanding piece of songwriting, and you always have to remember the person who wrote the song when a cover outshines it. Standing on the shoulders of giants and what-not.
