Never was a big Doris Day fan, she became just too goody two shoes but when she cut this song she was as hot as Peggy Lee and apparently it coincided with Operation Magic Carpet and meant so much to eight million GIs who wanted to come home. Good for you Ms. Day.

The arranger was Mort Garson. He really is good, but his arrangements for most of the other songs on this album are so filled with dissonance that the songs are severely compromised IMHO. He also arranged and conducted Day's album ''Latin For Lovers'' which did not employ dissonance in the arrangements. He wrote the pop standard ''Our Day Will Come'' which DD sings on ''Latin For Lovers.''

this came from the "doris day" album. it is a red album with an older looking Doris on it. i like this version out of all of the other versions. the piano accompaniment is so good - and of course Doris is great. i went through all 50 of the sentimental journey songs on amazon to find this one.
