Blackbird singing in the dead of night

Take these broken wings and learn to fly

All your life

You were only waiting for this moment to arise

Black bird singing in the dead of night

Take these sunken eyes and learn to see

all your life

you were only waiting for this moment to be free

Blackbird fly, Blackbird fly

Into the light of the dark black night.

Blackbird fly, Blackbird fly

Into the light of the dark black night.

Blackbird singing in the dead of night

Take these broken wings and learn to fly

All your life

You were only waiting for this moment to arise,oh

You were only waiting for this moment to arise, oh

You were only waiting for this moment to arise

That was very nice, loved his soft voice and happy smile, a great rendition of a song I'd almost forgotten

I think Donovan and McCartney were hanging out together at the time Blackbird was written, so I don't find it odd that Donovan would sing this song. He so rarely sang anyone else's song after he became hugely popular that taking note of this one seems a good idea.

Don did share picking..but Paul used the bourée inspiration. Both are right..Alohz I worked for Him 1974..

Lighten up Emil. It's just a Seinfeld reference.

I dress like it's 1966. Though I'm from 1992. Dress the way you want to and let others dress the way they want to.

Paul McCartney did. Not Donovan. He might have been inspired by the technique Donovan was showing John Lennon in India, but Paul wrote the song and he was inspired by Bach's 'Bouree' when he did. Where did you get the information that Donovan wrote it?

Don had his god-like moments but what was he thinking taking part in this utter drivel?

Exactly, an original can't be taken by trends.

Kinda wishing I hadn't clicked on this particular video after seeing the "in concert" version of Catch the Wind. Sadly, he looks like a bizarre cross between Richard Simmons and Billy Connelly.... and the strings are just too much. I miss the 1960s...

The orchestration in the middle caught me completely off-guard. What a wonderful arrangement...it brought tears.

Donovan inspired this song & others when he showed the Beatles "claw style" finger picking.. you wont hear it on pre-white album .. Beatles devoured new styles & perfected them.. this is ok .. just did it in his style .. BTW .. Beatles hated covers ..that "copied" the Beatles!!
