Maybe he's referring to both, I know it sounds weird, but Lou might've still been referring to Dinosaur Jr as his band because he was/is a part of the band, I guess he's just acknowledging the fact that he was a part of the band, but in a weird way.

At the risk of sounding pedantic I think the interviewers got this muddled up. I don't know what the voiceover is saying but Lou is obviously talking about when Kurt wore the Sebadoh t-shirt once in an interview (Krist was always wearing that Dinosaur t-shirt and Lou wasn't even in Dinosaur then as it's the "Green Mind" t-shirt); he would never refer to Dinosaur as "my band" as they are totally J's band and he's fine with that. I remember seeing Kurt in that t-shirt as I got "III" on tape after.
