Someone recently uploaded a better quality version of this song. For that version click the link below:

Special "Thanks!" to Arthur Thompson, who just let me know what album this version of Dindi is on. It's called: "Song for my Lady".

If you want to download this song from Google Play, (as I just did), here is the link:

The quality of the recording I used for this video is not great. But the vocal is exquisite, in my opinion. I copied this audio over to my PC from an old cassette recording I made from a radio broadcast on a Connecticut Jazz station I used to listen to back in the early '80s. It is my favorite Dindi of all time and, my favorite done by Jon Lucien. (He did a few versions of this song.) I was quite surprised that Dindi, as sung by Jon, was not on Youtube. At least, I couldn't find any version of it. So I uploaded this one. Don't go by the picture I used for the video. I got it from Google images and, as it turns out, it is from another album Jon did which had another version of Dindi. As I just learned from Arthur, this version of Dindi by Jon is on the album called: "Song for my Lady". After I downloaded the better copy of this song from Google Play, I was thinking of putting up another video with THAT audio file but I read that Google Play embeds their files with info so, I don't want anymore copyright warning notices from Youtube. But, it's only .99 cents and, was well worth it, in my opinion.

P.S.

I just Googled Jon Lucien and found his obituary at a website called the Guaradian in UK. I was shocked by some things I learned about how he struggled with his career as well as the tragedies in his life. If you want to learn some things about the man himself, click here. \http://www.guardian.co.uk/news/2007/oct/04/guardianobituaries.obituaries2

Lastly, (and, herein is my JOY!) I just found out from his website (JonLucien.com) that Jon's dream was to do an album of songs of praise to God and to His Lord Jesus Christ. He realized that dream. His last album is called: "The Wayfarer - Songs of Praise". So, he's not only an awesome singer to me. He is also my brother!

Minister Louis Farrakhan, at a Church on Herkimer Street, just East of Bedford Avenue and South of Atlantic Ave.  Willie Bobo has a version also.

Yes.... sultry.... WBLS Radio..... New York. They sure knew how to lay down smooth music. I spent my last years before leaving for college listening to great vocalists likeJon Lucein, and James Moody,,,,,"Moody's Mode for Love". Later in life.........I found out that love....... can never live up to the way these guys sang it! ,,,,,,,,,,, WoW!

+Terry Turner On an up note, a wonderful thing I also discovered in my mini research project was that he did an album he always wanted to do before he died..  It's called: "The Wayfarer".  The liner notes for this album on Jon's website say:"This project realizes Jon's dream to sing praises to God and Jesus Christ his Savior".

So few artist can capture a song and make it so undeniably theirs. Such was the magic and artistry of Jon Lucien. This was one of the songs I used to inspire my early poems.  Wow what memories, what beauty, what love does this song brings back to my mind and heart.  Truly a blessing to have heard the sweet , mellow, and magical sound of one Mr. Jon Lucien.  Yes my heart breaks to discover his passing.  To the days of W.R.V,R and the chief rocker the late Frankie Crocker, when radio was really radio.  I salute the days, the music, and the artist that made that time of the 1970's, just the best.
