Another gem from Diana's first solo album (1970).

Something On My Mind

(Nickolas Ashford and Valerie Simpson)

Somethin's on my mind

It's been troublin' me a long long time

Now I think it would best

If you knew

Just how much I'm in love with you

I don't think it's fair

You walk by and pretend I'm not there

Boy don't you know

What you're puttin' me through

And just how long I've been wantin' you

I've waited patiently

For you to come to me

And I've stood it long as I can

Now I've got to know

Got to know just where I stand

And I hope you're gonna say

All this time you were feelin' the same way

And you were playin' such a silly silly game

And my lovin' you hasn't been in vain

Baby don't you know

I hope you're gonna say

All this time you were feelin' this same way

And you were playin' such a silly silly game

And my lovin' you hasn't been in vain

Somethin's on my mind

Just how much I need you baby

Ah somethin's on my mind

That's been troublin' me a long long time

Baby baby, somethin's on my mind.....

(fade)

Just how much I need you baby.....

soooo damn right lol-beauty class-voice like no other....yes, and even more...she made me believe being gay was something to be proud of...because Diana Ross said, she loved her gay fans....

I admire the work done by Ms. Wright. But, the old 'Motown only promoted DIana Ross" story is both untrue and unfair. I grew up in the era and kept the closest watch on the company. They made Mary Wells a star before the Supremes had a hit record. While the Supremes were churning out hits, so were the Vandellas -- and they were all on the same TV shows and concert venues.. If Mary Wells had not believed that the label was not prestigious enough, she could have stayed and been even bigger.

She's clearly one of the most amazing stars and singers of all time!

At least she is still doing what she enjoys doing. I saw her at the Nokia last year, and she slammed. Yes, I was surprised at how much she slammed, but she did. She came back for encore, after encore, after encore, always wearing a different gown. SHE LOVES DOING THIS. You could not drag her off of a stage. Fantastic that someone keeps doing what they have done for so long and still loves it!!

One thing to consider those of you that are detractors: We all get colds, or days when we simply get tired from the day...and a portion of the "magic" might not be there for the evening, or for certain notes, it's all relative. As a professional, you go on and realize that you still have a show to do, and simply have to say "Oh Well..." . No one is perfect ALL THE TIME, but that does not mean that one has "LOST IT!" Jeez, get over yourselves with the constant criticism.

@MrMiketsmith Not tru MrMike..Motown just rode the wave of Supremes popularity and then it went into capitalizing on Ross's star power from being in that iconic group. When the Jacksons came, They got ALL of motwons promotions I do agree with you about Syreeta Wright. So under rated as an artist. But during those days, it wasn't just a great voice that could sell records, you had to be able to have presence and be a performer. Not saying Syreeta wasn't. But Diana was one of the best entertainers

syreeta wright was a brilliant vocalist who started at motown as a secretary. if you listen to some of stevie wonder's earlier works, you'll not only hear her doing background vocals, but find out that she co-wrote a lot of his music . check out her "one to one" album. fabulous. unfortunately , she died a few years ago of cancer (i believe). I don't like comparing artist to each other, but you know how motown was when it came to promoting female artist-diana ross was the only one!

Some joker wrote "I must say Syreeta Wright's ...version is better". Well, if you feel you "must" say it, then I guess you must. But I'm certain you would not have a consensus! Secondly, who in hell is Syreeta Wright ? Rediculous.

I must say Syreeta Wright's earlier version is much better.

Diana Ross is considered the most successful female artist when you include ALL of her Number One records with The Supremes, as well as her solo and duet output...Many of the pre RIAA certification product was not substantiated, but when you consider that the Supremes were a phenomenon of the 1960's...on par with Whitney Houston in the 90's, the Jackson 5 in the 70's, etc...they were unstoppable...There is no GREATEST to me; I just love me some good, good, wonderful music by THEM ALL!!
