Don Lanier, Buddy Knox' former lead guitar player, wrote and recorded this song on Apt in 1962. Later on he began to work for Jimmy Bowen (Knox' former bass player and a rockabilly star in his own right) who workedas as a highly succesful producer at Frank Sinatra's Reprise Records. That's how I guess Dean Martin came to record this song. Search for Donnie La Near if you want to hear the original version by Don. Don died, by the way last summer (2014).
