I got put on to this album in 7th grade when I attended Fulmore Middle School in South Austin (Texas). This album was passed on to me by a social worker of the Communities In Schools program (CIS). This organization works with at risk kids and encourages them to stay in school and continue to further education. At the time, I was living in the projects (Meadow Brook) and this album made me realize how the world really functions. In other words this album made me open my eyes to all the unjust acts that occur in the states, modern day racism, segregation in urban communities, etc. We are all humans at the end of the day, we have to get rid of this "color" line" that still exist in our society. Whether Mexican (me) or black, we have to make sure that we don't let the negativity of racism and economic discrimination issues get the best of. If the white man can have wealth in this country, why can't we!Shout out to Lindsey Knowles for putting me on to this album. It made me not want to go down the wrong path in life. It inspired me to overcome poverty and better my future and not become a statistic in the white man's book.

I like this artist but they got all hung up in this black white thing. We are all children and souls. Oppression is everywhere just this time in the US it was between black and white people. There are white people being mistreated by white people and black people mistreated by black. The US is not the whole world, allot of stuff is going on outside it to. I want to live in a generation where we judge people by their minds not their colour of the skin. The colour docent matter look at adopted people there are exactly like the culture they got adopted to. Its all about the mind.

People always wonder why black culture is so full of conspiracy theories. IF they were black in America they would believe all kinds of crazy stuff too. It is because where there is smoke there is fire. I know sometimes as a thinker I balk at the things brothers and sisters believe BUT EXACTLY WHY WOULD BLACK AMERICA TRUST ANYTHING AT ALL about America? That is the question. It would be like asking an abused wife to trust her husband. It is not a realistic expectation. Moreover the fact that there is structured racism means that many young black people never had access to CRITICAL thought in school. With that in mind one really cannot judge too hard regarding the constant belief in conspiracy theories.ONE CANNOT. Things need to change.

One thing I don't understand with this song is the line "I don't believe Bob Marley died from cancer". Heard it so many times but never heard anyone else talk about a conspiracy on it.
