In times of great vexationWhen one must choose between what's right and wrongFreedom so they sayAmounts to the choices you have madeThrough all the arbitraryRationale concerning libertyFreedom I must sayExists within unconditioned mindsReason has come of ageHow can you be satisfied with things the way they areWhen all that surrounds us now and so much moreRemains inside the keeper's dark embrace? The insatiable thirst for power has madeIdols out of mortals, gods into claySoldiers into heroes, children into slavesAll damned desires, their hopes betrayedWho will suffer the lawsThat state can decideYour child's educationUnless you pay the price?Who will suffer the laws?Who will suffer their minds?Who will suffer their words?Who will suffer their designs?Who will suffer the laws?Who will suffer their minds?Who will suffer their words?Who will suffer their designs?

Great track from the band's best album. saw this performed live in 1987 @ Birmingham and it was superb . Sadly although excellent live they no longer play these old classics concentrating instead on the more recent albums

Title of album partially based on an old Occult book.

More pertinent to these days with public apathy towards the politics and daily issues that govern our lives and those faceless shadowmasters that really pull the strings at the top of the social food chain...

After years of listening to only the live version, I find this one to be not as great. But still good. :D

First two DCD albums are the essence. Amazing 80s sound, lots of reverb. Brendan's voice I prefer much more to Lisa's.

the end of the lyrics in this song makes your think. ''who will suffer the laws can state can decide your child's education unless you pay the price'' even refers to the Medieval period is actually a very topical

@rexroth120 Ciao Bello! I've loved this entire album since I was a 22 year old kid in 1986, and after the much earlier dissolution of "Joy Division", due to lead "Ian Curtis" suicide, this early entry by "DCD" to what would become a rather large catalogue, filled a huge void for music that catered to my then youthful "Angst"!
