I cannot think of a time when David was not playing in our house when I was a child, my parents were huge fans, & I still play his songs constantly. He is a reminder of how much my parents loved him & such a voice. Such a shame that generations today have no knowledge of such a talent. Thank You David for all the wonderfull hours of song that you gave us. xxxx

Ah, David, my friend Diana and I had such a crush on you when we were teenagers in Blackpool when we saw you perform on stage at the Winter Gardens :)

A song always, or at least to people old enough to remember, associated with the great, and much loved Richard Tauber. This version is however, a fine rendition of this Lehar classic! Thank you!

Hear hear, this has always been a strong favourite of mine - I was introduced to Lehar when I was 20, down in Dorset when I attended a free performance of the Count of Luxembourg in exchange for selling raffle tickets - I was converted overnight.

He sings this beautifully. It was my mum and dads song. He is dead 20 years in May and Mum has advanced Alzheimer, but with no memory she can still sing the chorus of it. The joy that a beautiful voice brings can never be measured. Thank You

I wouldn't know where to start! David was one of the most popular tenors to come from Britain and certainly had one of the best voices. There is a nice biography of him on Wikipedia and some links to other sites which can give you lots of great information. Thanks for asking!

My parents also listened to him and I forgot all about him until I just discovered this youtube video. Thanks for bringing back many fond memories. and I'm also surprised at the quality of his voice.. I also loved Richard Tauber and grew up listening to his recordings. Still do and now I'll listen to David again. Thank you for posting..

David Whitfield at his very best doing justice to one the finest and most difficult of songs. Whoever did the orchestral arrangement was off the mark with the last few bars though.
