God, I wish he just sang the song. His voice was still great. He could have delivered another of his stellar performances and shown his astounding vocals!! Oh well, at least we still have his now colorized original live performance... the voice of the greatest singer to have ever lived.

The difference between David Ruffin and Dennis Edwards can be revealed in two songs! Check out Ain't No Sun Since You Been Gone recorded in 1967 and Gotta To Find A Way to Get You Back recorded in 1968! Basically the two Temptations songs are identical but Dennis lead vocal on Gotta To Find A Way To Get You Back sounds harsh and forced while David vocal on Ain't No Sun Since You Been Gone sounds smooth and soulful! David's vocal range was unlimited while Dennis voice had some restrictions!

He was singing my girl in that old clip. You can see him mouthing the words "fortune or fame". I wonder if anyone has the full length of that old performance. I just love that look. Nobody could pull that process hair with them glasses and make it look smooth like David Ruffin.
