David Bowie is one of a few musicians, who was able to perform on a very high level over several decades. And he has a good instinct to pick a good song from other musicians and cover it so brilliant that it is more enjoyable than the original version.I remember his 50th birthday concert, doing "White Light/White Heat" from the Velvet Underground, where he made Lou Reed looking overwhelmed while they played that song together.

Huge compliment to the Pixies I suppose, but right after listening to the original I much prefer the simplicity and lack of rrrrock! attitude of the Pixies version
