That's beyond hilarious! :) Dave Weckl is my idol and he's one of the greatest drummers of the world without a doubt. I think that this video is perfection. He uses his hands without making any extra effort and by giving the incredible accents fluently and smoothly. I am just speechless at this point.

I agree with everything you wrote exept the audience not clapping at the end. They were obviously clapping at the end. Where´d you get that from..

LOL. Indeed; not everyone is accustomed to drum solos beyond the continuous RH-LH-BD-BD "4-in-3 artificial-note-grouping" DB triplets & 4 alternating hands singles & 2 kicks 32nd note DB sextuplets, eh? ;]

No, musicians & listeners alike respect his ability. & of the Weckl, Gadd, Colaiuta clip, i remember each's individuality, respectively. While it may be said that Gadd often speaks more primally to more persons (& not taking away from his incredible musicianship, sense of timing/pocket/groove, & technical application of each), & although i dug all 3 respectively, for me it was Vinnie's nuclear burn explosive fireworks that left me picking what was left of pieces of my jaw off the rhythmic floor.

You're a moron. The audience is respectful and doesn't interrupt the artist when he's playing. They give applause when they're sure the performance is finished. And they just started clapping when the video ends.

jojo mayer and dave are about same age, both have their own bands, and yet there's a significant difference in their playing recently. jojo seems to get more intense and dave less. so if not the age, the music, is it whiskey or women....

Fantastic!! But I believe you have to be a drummer to really aprecciate his skill. If Dave lacks anything, it would be imagination to create beats that sticks on your brain. In the classic clip where Weckl, Caliouta and Gadd plays - it's Gadd I remember best! And Weckl is at least twice as skillfull as Gadd!

6 characteristics of Dave's soloing that are very impressive: 1. dynamics, 2. technicality, 3. control, 4. speed and 5. coordination, and last but not least 6. grace. He has no doubt mastered the art of drumming.
