It's really sad that metalcore songwriting these days is just so lazy and defined by breakdowns..Darkest Hour, Bullet For My Valentine, Trivium, All That Remains, As I Lay Dying, Bleeding Through, Killswitch Engage, Unearth, Haste The Day, Still Remains, The Autumn Offering, Sinai Beach, Atreyu, Norma Jean, Underoath, It Dies Today, Demon Hunter, early Devil Wears Prada, early Avenged Sevenfold, early Parkway Drive..... this is the crop of metalcore bands that carried me through high school and none of these bands really used any breakdowns in their songs. Underoath's "Define The Great Line", Atreyu's "The Curse", Norma Jean's "O God The Aftermath", All That Remains "The Fall Of Ideals"....... These albums are all masterpieces and metalcore bands today aren't writing anything that even holds a candle to these.
