Hey, guys, I looked at the lyrics and saw that this song is about praising science and technology, but I don't understand the final line:"From now on, I'll only know lovemaking through an act of intense terror".What does that mean? Is this to show that the band was sarcastic towards science and technology? Or is this something else?

Still enjoy this band very much at times for the music.Best one off this record was definitely- A Subtle Induction.In this track here though: Unfortunately shown is the childlike view of God as the 'infinite problem solver'.But much like one builds on basic math and learns calculus, or one learns bigger words from the smaller ones. Or uses his or her building blocks in many crafts to create complex intelligent structures of art, science, music or other things...So must faith grow from the childlike- into its adult version as well. With acceptance of questions that cannot be answered, with knowledge we cannot control God with our worldy desire requests, but are his individual instruments in the end. Knowing just as there is a mystery of faith- that there is also a mystery of evil- as to why bad things happen, even to the secular.And I'm not saying modern medicine is a horrible thing, I believe it saves lives and has a wonderful purpose.I'm just glad DFA didn't throw the stem cell argument in here and really take things- to the amoral level. There comes a breaking point with anything and everything, and there are caveats within all belief systems and theories- even atheism and science too.

Ron Reinart (the singer) had some health issues. I think they were planning some type of reunion until that happened. He was told not to sing or he'd lose his voice permanently.
