I miss good old fashioned story songs in country music. That's how country music started. Story songs that were simple and to the point.Like The Wreck Of Old '97,& Long Black Veil. I'm not hearing those types of songs today. And that is such a shame. Songs like this are few and far between today. When a song and singer shakes you to the core like this one does, that's something special.

Oh Dan Seals, you are missed. This is, in my humble opinion, his finest vocal performance. And the song? A Cheryl Wheeler masterpiece. "Addicted" is from back in the day when country music was about stories that touched deep inside, that rattled our emotions and forced us to look at ourselves in the mirror. Listening to "Addicted" still gives me goose bumps. Oh Dan Seals, you are missed.

I'm addicted to this version of the song :) Impressed with her simplicity as well - jeans and sweatshirt huh?! Today it would be unthinkable. Those were the days when talent and love to sing songs for the soul were above anything else, I guess.

Huge Dan Seals fan going into basic training at age 18. About four weeks in, (fort leonard wood) standing in the chow line, this tune comes softly over the radio piped in. Never hearing it before, I nearly lost my mind! Mighty hard to stay calm with eyes forward in silence.Just 4 notes in.. I once again stand in that chow line. "AWESOME".
