Kiri is the only good actress ever in opera. shes the only actress in opera, the only one good enough to be counted with the musical theatre actresses. ALL other singers in opera are a cringefest to watch to anyone with any knowledge of acting only a dilettante who accepts the hammy cavorting and mugging so pervasive in opera as acting could think Kiri isnt clearly the best. it was actually her good acting that made me a fan, which in turn made start listening to classical vocal music

I somehow agree. And because she`s not a good actress on stage, the beautiful voice only soon becomes boring. Her Desdemona and Arabella almost made me fall asleep.

Beautifully sung but emotionally somewhat generalized. Some singers amaze with their voices and some capture us with their passion. Kiri belongs to the former group. Callas would be an example of the latter.

This is true. Many Italian listeners don't like her very much becauese they say she is a cold singer who has a beautiful voice but who sings without emotion so they prefer other singers who are more, in their opinion, expressive. I like her very much expecially in Strauss and Mozart.
