Potentially the GOAT band. A huge shame they wasted their talent doing other things for 15 years.

Zé Tremoço

@1ManArmyOfDisease Actually it's a vocoder, which is what they used on Focus too.

@1ManArmyOfDisease He hasn't used a vocoder for the robot effect since focus. This is auto-tune

@1ManArmyOfDisease when it was pure vocoder style in the focus era the keyboards controlled the notes. Now he uses a couple of TC Helicon VoiceLive's, and actually sings the parts and the Helicon adds harmonies. It's not auto tune.

Not auto tune, but similar, much more ancient. The original stuff was done on an old Digitech vocalist rack from like 1990. It didn't work so well live, so with the new album they went for a new, cleaner sound, but still basically a midi fed vocoder. Most of the new stuff is octave splits instead of inteligent harmony. I got to see these guys once before hurricane Andrew split them up the first time. They were ridiculous even then, before joining Chuck & Death

@1ManArmyOfDisease Not at all. It's a Vocoder. He doesn't use one in the studio for Traced in Air though.

@Mortal0121 Oh yeah, I know. actually before I found out it he used a vocodor, i assumed it was auto-tune, but I can tell when it's someone who could actually sing. the style of their music and the way he sings stands out from other bands as far as the auto-tune thing is concerned. I've played with auto-tune before, I know what you mean when you say the pitch will jump around. it is bad

@juggalopenguin1134 Please don't get the idea that Paul can't sing without effects (I know Auto-Tune has that largely-deserved negative stigma), because he's a very talented singer without the effects. It's also actually pretty hard to use Auto-Tune (live anyways) and make it sound good like Paul does (unlike many obvious examples), because your voice has to be VERY steady or else the pitch will jump around, which sounds rather bad.

@Mortal0121 ah so I see.

@juggalopenguin1134 He used a vocoder on Focus. The pitch on Focus was determined with a keyboard. He used Auto-Tune on Traced in Air, with the vocals being harmonized an octave up and an octave down. I know this because I asked them after seeing them live.

@1ManArmyOfDisease ..... I'm pretty sure it's a vocodor, not auto tune
