I wouldn't go THAT far. Desaparecidos has a completely different sound than Sunny Day Real Estate, I would say Commander Venus sounds more like SDRE but thats still a far stretch. But both those bands kick so much ass. so much of it.

a lot of the work done by the Kinsella bros is quite similar to cursive in some ways. More of Tim's output is, I'd say. Tim Kinsella's band, Make Believe, opened up for Cursive on one of their tours (2005 or 2006, maybe). Anyways, they both carry similar vibes here and there. Joan of Arc's Boo Human reminds me a lot of Album of the Year.
