@TheCharredswine Mostly true, but I've seen a couple small time artists who worked for passion who ended up getting recognized and making it big. Mostly, the truly talented artists won't sway from their style (sell out) to appeal for money. Some have though, and it's not pretty to watch. Take Lupe Fiasco for example. That dude auto-tunes now, but I guess I never knew much about him when he was small time. Not just rappers either. Tori Amos got turned down for not being "pop" enough.
