"COLLECTIVELY WHAT ABOUT AGAIN THE CREAM!!!!!!"

"ONE, TWO, THREE. FOUR!!!"

This is a very interesting version of Sunshine, performed before it had morphed into the version we all know and love. It is much more up-tempo, and you can see Ginger still hadn't fully realized that epic, native american style, drum beat that really completes the whole song.

Eric is also still trying to figure out how to solo over the chord progression which is a little funny to hear.

Its not one of their greatest versions of the number, but it has a huge historical significance and i think it is extremely interesting to see what Sunshine might have been if it wasn't for Gingers brilliance. And thats not to mention Eric who accomplished one of his great architectural solos on the studio recording let alone the use of his signature woman tone which really puts that "oomph" in the first hard rock riff ever recorded!!!!!!!

all in all... a must hear!

Live at the Ricky Tick, Hounslow, W. London.

22nd April. 1967

Sorry to keep interrupting, but I like this version so much. Please give more info. Do you know exactly when and where it was recorded? Is this from an album? Which one? Also, I like the photos in your set. Do you know who that is on the right at 3:53? Metart93, this is special.

Prototype my butt. This is the real song, good version and I wish we had the live version to watch. If you didn't know, Cream did not play the same song the same way every time. They are artists. If you want the same song the same way every time, go listen to Perry Como or the other lounge singers. Two and a half minutes and out.

Okay guys: let's speed up the tempo, get the hell outta here and get back to the pad so that we can munch down on that leftover pizza and finish off the rest of the beer in the fridge.

Wow, this is fast. I never heard it like this. I like it. You have cool pictures of them, too. I just recorded Sunshine of Your Love yesterday for a tribute to Jack Bruce. I sing and play bass guitar at the same time like Jack did. I had fun with this song. I even did the drum solo and threw my drum up in the AIR. Plus I played with a GIRL guitar player. It's my featured video right now if you want to see me rock hard. Take care.

I think the confusion lies in the fact that they recorded the music for Disraeli Gears in England, then, as you said, during the Murray the K shows they recorded the vocals in NYC. Hence the happy accident in Brave Ulysses where the drums "come in early" after the last verse. I also mistakenly remembered the album being released in the U.S. in June when in fact it was released in December, another marketing mishap by Stigwood, which caused Cream to be overshadowed by Sgt. Pepper and Are You Expe

shit, i could be wrong though, because they recorded Disraeli Gears right after they did the Murray The K shows in New York which (i believe) started in March. Idk, i just pulled that date of the record sleeve so i guess it could indeed be totally off...

I thought Disraeli Gears was recorded in May... that would put it after this show.

April 22 1967 was well after they had recorded the studio version. I think they were well past playing the Ricky Tick at this point. Are you sure you got the date right?

Thanks, mate! What I was describing wasn't the full-grown "Woman Tone" at all, then--maybe I described something closer to a "Young Lady" tone, eh? Lol! /;-)

With all due respect "woman tone" is produced by rolling the TONE KNOB back (maybe that's what you meant by "tone switch"?), Usually the Bridge or Both pickups on and volume Up not down. And this is actually NOT the original "woman tone" which was what Clapton (and many many others) called Albert King's tone and was both pickups full on and sounded "like a woman crying".
