No asskicking coming here. I love reinterpretations of "timeless classics". I seek them out and this is probably the best straight cover. It's everything the Floyd version is. You'd be more "kick-worthy" if you preferred, say, the Scissor Sister's version, although that one is also pretty good and you'd be forgiven.

Not BETTER than Waters' and Pink Floyd interpretation.. but it's good in different ways. I like it better, but am willing to concede that it's just my take on things, and that other people have really valid reasons for preferring the original. Why can't we all just get along? Can all the Pink Floyd purists stop planning to hang Ani and Dar by their piercings for covering what will always be considered a Roger Waters classic?

The last time I checked our freedom to enjoy one version of a song over another is not punishable by corporal punishment, Yes, I know you are being both funny, and acknowledging the huge very loyal fan base Pink Floyd has earned with their brilliant lyrics and song writing that has been ground breaking since they released their first album.. But artists interpreting other artist work is much like their own homage to the band they are covering..So while I enjoy both versions of this song, I respect your opinion,I certainly don't think you should be "kicked" through the mighty power of the pen, which as history and current events has shown us can be mightier than the sword. .

Definitely not going to kick you on this one, that fact that you prefer it more than Floyd's is really...well it's your opinion that you are entitled too...and I'm really close to agreeing with you, haha! Both are great, Floyd's original masterpiece, and this haunting rendition!

Ordinarily, I'm a fan of both Dar Williams and Ani DiFranco...but I heard this the other night and literally wanted to smash my radio to bits. It's HORRIBLE, imho..The producer of this thing ought to be strung up by their pierced pink jiggily bits and shaken repeatedly... It seems they have sucked out ANY soul this song had and just threw it in the trash, simply because they wanted to do a cover they thought might help them gain more popularity.
