Drive You Home lyrics

© 2012 Brian Hazard (ASCAP)

Motivation fades

The clock is ready to call it a day

When a charming guest

Is escorted straight to my desk

With a modest request

So begins the chase

You live on the way back to my place

Could I spare a ride?

I'm overly quick to oblige

Yes I'll drive you home

Your home

Wherever you'd like to go

Yes I'll drive you home

Your home

I'm wanting to get to know you better

A well-oiled machine

We've coasted into a pleasant routine

Talking all the way

We always have something to say

The best part of my day

Making hasty plans

To go hear one of our favorite bands

Saved our ticket stubs

It's obvious we are in love

Yes I'll drive you home

My home

Wherever you'd like to go

Yes I'll drive you home

My home

I'm wanting to spend the night together

You kick up your feet

Reclining into the passenger seat

As you start to snore

I quietly lock both the doors

To keep you safely on board

Finally set a date

A ceremony to commemorate

The horizon's glare

The thrill of the wind in our hair

Yes I'll drive you home

Our home

Wherever you'd like to go

Yes I'll drive you home

Our home

I'm ready to spend our lives together.

I love this remix, so moody, the minor low notes just fit so well.

Brian, I need to correct myself, the newsletter came from TuneCore on Apr 29/13 & it was titled 'Celebrating 10 Years of iTunes'. In it among other links there was link '7 Tips For Getting Featured On iTunes'. Your 'Passive Promotion' really is a mine of valuable info. I wish I could include here URL to it so others could benefit from it too. Actually, here it is, passivepromotionperiodcom Period is a punctuation mark, I think that I tricked YouTube on that one!

Wow, was my site in the blogroll column on the iTunes newsletter? That's some prime exposure! Thanks for reading and for the kind words.

Hi Brian, I received newsletter from iTunes, and while checking out '7 Tips For Getting Featured On iTunes', 'Passive Promotion' caught my eye in the Blogroll column. Since I know a thing or two about show business, hard as I tried I couldn't imagine how promotion could be done in a passive way. So now I know, man, I had no idea about Vagex and all that. Your video took me for a nice nostalgia trip back to the '80s, and for that I thank you. Cheers!

That chord/bass note sound fine to me. You can hear it again with slightly bigger accompaniment in the second verse at 1:36. The jury is out on whether a webcam of my lipsynching would be more interesting than the drive! ;)

Well it's more of a bass note implying the chord than an actual chord. It comes when you sing 'day' in the line 'the clock is ready to call it a day' and even if you sit at a computer you could still video your self singing. That would be more interesting than a street view inside another street view.

Thanks for checking it out! The original probably doesn't have the chord change you're referring to, but that's what makes remixes so fun. The musician "in action" is a dude at a computer, so I vote for the street views! ;)

I like the song. It's very quirky. It has a weird chord change that keeps coming around. The video is okay, but I don't see the point of the video within a video view of just some more streets. maybe that could have been you singing or playing keys or something. viewers want to see the musician in action... BTW Your passive promotion blog looks really good with a lot of useful info!

No, I don't think so, but that's my personal opinion ;) Someone else maybe offended. In fact some get offended if they can't get all music for free....

You don't think I'm pushy enough already? ;) But yeah, I could do that or even just a text overlay with a link to my Bandcamp site. That would give me the added advantage of being able to change it at will. YouTube has taken a back seat to producing new music lately.

Found this video by following a link on Twitter called YouTube's dirty secret (or something). And it just so happened that I find I like this song, melody, arrangement and even the video! And yes, including the lyrics is a nice idea. And I don't mind all the buy links either - they shoould be there. Any thoughts about adding a voice-over saying "if you would like this music without a voice-over please go to [buy link]" ?

I got here because of your post on music think tank. That's a hard way to get a view! Liked what I heard. I'll check out more of your work.

This is really GOOD Brian, I actually enjoyed watching a video that is relevant to the song. I'm SO glad the "Drive You Home" video does NOT contain garishly over nipped and tucked "video hos", some far away abstract scenario in a distant land, the band ad nauseum or other irrelevant garbage like animatronics attempting to be clever. You guys nailed it! TY!
