HIM is a Finnish metal style in 1991 by singer and former bassist Hermanni Ville Valo, guitarist Mikko Viljami "Linde" Lindström, and bassist Mikko Henrik Julius "Migé Amour" Paananen, who has released five full albums since then. Was also known as HER or HIM and HER in connection with the U.S. launch. They have sold Over 4.5 million albums worldwide.

Heartagram is a symbol Ville Valo created the day after he turned 20. One of the Villes comments on heartagramet is "the heartagram stands for HIM as a band, as an entity, and for 'love metal' in general." which means roughly, "Heartagramet stands for HIM as a band," existence "and to love metal in general." The symbol is a mix between a pentagram and a heart. An up and nedvänt pentagram can be seen as a symbol associated with the devil, but heartagramet has nothing to do with the devil.
