That just knocked me out! I've loved Squeeze for 30 years, I've heard that song at least 100 times, and I have NEVER heard those lyrics... just snatches: amusing belly dancers... thrills and chills... camels greeting someone... from the music, I've always heard it as a goofy song. Those lyrics are brooding and beautiful. Wow. This is amazing: I've thought of Difford as a genius my whole life, and at 50, discover that I've probably missed half of what's there. Good grief!

yeh I agree....crap without Glenn...Chris is a nice writer..but Glenn is the sound of Squeeze....this song is a post punk type thing..this version sounds like WESTLIFE. Get fuckin real Chris.

Love Squeeze and always have. Almost nobody knows (or at least nobody acknowledges) that ALL of the lyrics are Difford's. Friend of mine attended a songwriter's workshop with Tilbrook who (at that time anyway) didn't write lyrics.

Great to see Chris still doing it, and differently. Squeeze were a college time favourite of mine, must have seen them 4 or 5 times in the space of a couple of years. Chris does a cool solo version of Black Coffee in Bed too.
