I think you will find Chris has no problem with confidence, the use of an orchestra adds to songs sometimes, what you are saying is that Elton John, Queen, ect. had no trust in themselves as they also use/used an orchestra in MANY of their songs. You straight now??

Wow. What a wonderful interpretation of Ulvaeus and Andersson's masterpiece. Chris has captured the mood of this song beautifully in both the music and the video. Guitar great Pete Townshend famously called S.O.S. perhaps the greatest pop song ever written and I happen to agree with him.
