Tower of Power

SCRAPBOOK pieseň skupiny CHICAGO z albumu CHICAGO X, ktorej autorom bol Robert Lamm.Úžasná skladba tvoriaca listovanie v spomienkách historie skupiny do toho momentu s vynikajúcou hrou dychovej sekcie Záznam pochádza z koncertu skupiny v Dortmunde v Nemecku v roku 1982. V skupine hral solovú gitaru po Donnie Dacusovi Chris Pinnick.

This is a real jewel. Robert's performance is very powerful and this song is one of my favorites from Chicago X, I think the most personal as a band they did. I actually have the original music score for piano and guitar from that album. Good for Chris, is there a perfomance of this song featuring Terry? Gracias y felicidades!!!

@scribbled309 "..." Kath is an artist: unchained, unpredictable, dangerous." Well-said. I didn't appreciate it sufficiently at the time. Hindsight's something, innit?

I´m a Terry fan forever, but Chris Pinnik as the only guitar player after Terry, had real "Balls". He never tried to copy him, but played is as off! Great Guy!

Great band. Great tune. And Lamm's just soooo hot singing it here.

What's with Jimmy tying his shirt at the waist like a chick?

Completely agree with you on this one. Pinnick is underrated; as a craftsman he's impeccable; love his solo on 'Sweet Marie.' But Kath is an artist: unchained, unpredictable, dangerous. And you're right: when I think of the Kath versions of this song (esp the Cosbee version), I think: sly.

Chicago 2.0 firing on all cylinders. I'm liking the tweaked horn arrangments, and if Pinnick isn't Kath, he's pretty d*** close. Saw this live in '82 or '83 in Poughkeepsie, NY (remember the 'Chicago's Back' T-shirts?)....Very cool then and now.

Gotta register a friendly disagreement with 1hakon. Loved Pinnick, very clean and talented - but his strum on this song is very mechanical and bloodless. Kath's is more sly and sassy; and his solo's vintage Terry. Advantage Kath.

He's a fantastic, and unfortunately underrated guitarist. He actually suffered a heart attack hears after his tenure with Chicago. FORTUNATELY, he got a heart transplant, and wound up losing 100 pounds. My blood ran cold when I first heard of it.

The brass ensemble with Loughnane, Parazaider and James "Jimmy" Pankow brought it to the point. I like this performance much more than those ones with Mr. Terry Kath. Indeed he was great but I guess the influnce of Bill Champlin right at this time was enormous for the spirit of "Chicago".... Great piece. Great musicians. Great composers!

Well....Isn't there somebody who's noticed the genious talent of "Chicago" ?

Pinnick has a very definitive guitar sound. You can hear it clearly on XIV and 16. Particularly on XIV since he was the only guitarist.

Donnie Dacus played guitar for about 2 years with Chicago (1978-80). Chris Pinnick performs in this concert. Thank you!!

With Donnie Dacus it appears as good and groovy as with the unforgotten Terry Kath (1977). This perforamnce is a bit faster but in doubt here at this concert the brass guys are playing more to the point. I love both versions! Thank you for having posted it!
