Question: did the youth in 1988-89 like this song or was it mostly older people driving its popularity? I bet Paula Abdul and Bobby Brown were "cooler" for the 11-15 year olds to listen to. I liked it but I was just a small kid and had no idea what was trendy or cool, lol.

Was saying...what an amazing decade for music. Everything built upon the great songs of the 60's and 70's and exploded with so many different genres and it all worked. I truly didn't appreciate it since I was a nitwit teenager back then but it is the only stuff I want to listen to now. I feel bad for my two kids with the stuff they listen to today.
