CH is one of the most creative voices out there in jazz!to understand his tone you must get into Hammond-Sound (Smith, DeFrancesco etc.) as well as take a lookt at some Scofield-Stuff...but CH made it all his own. his style is different. very cool stuff!!!!

I Once met him at a music store in Berkeley where he actually asked me to play that 8 string beast because he was trying out for a new road rig and wanted to hear it from a distance (he said he asked me 'cause he liked my chord voicings...imagine me feeling flattered - real nice guy, too!)

This shit is solid. Charlie's the coolest cat I know nowadays, cause of his absolutely amazing groove. I personally like most of his late 90's stuff, specially The return of the Candyman Album. Anyone knows any live videos of that album or era ? p.s. And if you get a chance to see Charlie's gig, I HIGHLY recommend. Thanks for posting. Btw Conan looks like he's from the 70's :)
