What those Norwegians did was nothing really relatable to Black Metal in general. The only Black Metal material that can relate to the Norwegian Style of the 90's is Bathory's third album (Which really fully to the BM counter parts of the 80's) The so called second wave shouldn't even call themselves BM. Euronymous is a plain genre thief and a manipulator. Sarcofago's early work did the job that Mayhem was trying to do.

What you mean fans wasn't calling Celtic Frost BM? You obviously wasn't watching the interview before this video. I don't know what source lead you believe fans wasn't calling this BM, Not only have I read peoples life stories on what the Metal scene was like back in the mid 70 - 95 but I've also met allot of old cats that been has around before there were a "Extreme Metal" scene. They all said them selves that fans were calling Venom, Celtic Frost and even Slayer Black metal back then.

It's a tough call, Venom and Celtic Frost more or less created Black Metal out of the speed metal genre. At the time, it was still speed metal, it took the Norwegians to really start Black Metal as a genre. Now you could easily classify Celtic Frost and Venom as Black Metal, but at the time they were considered speed, even though Venom was calling it Black Metal, no one really accepted that as a genre yet.
