Camille O'Sullivan sings a beautiful cover of a Nick Cave song. Accompanied by Feargal Murray on keys (after the fact). Performed in the garden of The Church Opposite Dick Macks in Dingle at Feile na Bealtaine 2009.

In a Nick Cave frame of mind~~~Just listen to those birds in the background... songs of freedom and hope indeed.

Would be a very nice song, if it was not for the original Nick's version. The phrasing, instead of being dynamical and dramatic, sounds rather meaningless and tormenting, for both her and the listener. The phrasing was changed extensively, but at no single point it is beneficial. The songbirds in the background might be fine for the beginning, but in the middle of the song there is absolutely no space for them. Altogether, almost nothing of the speciality of this Nick's song remains. Sorry, but you ruined the song. A huge thumbs up for trying, though!

Just hearing this again... along with the birds in the background is both a joy and healing experience.

Quite a depleted version of this song, with a serenely pensive beginning rising to a minimal crescendo of joy giving over to diminuendo as were pensive beginning, like a birthday party for two, you and the ghost of Christmas Past .

I don't think much of the production. The voice sounds detached from the rest of the music. It sounds like she's singing it in her car.

The stripped down version on her Live at the Spiegeltent album is a million, billion times better... The best version ever of this song, in fact - makes ol' Nick sound like a pub singer, bless 'im.

Is there a version without the keyboard?

very lovely, but lacks the strength of cave's voice, which i think is a major contributor

just a sleepy, emasculated (literally) version of the original, devoid of its original force. Too bland and sanitized.

Nice. Different, a bit bluesy à la Diane Krall. Captures her character well. Hope she'll come back to the Sugar Club some time, or at least to Dublin.
