Caleb first auditioned in Season 10 (2010-2011). He was put through to Hollywood Week and was in a Hollywood group with James Durbin. He auditioned again in Season 11 (2011-2012) and made it all the way to the top 42. He messed up on his performance of "Old Time Rock and Roll" and was cut at the top 24. He auditioned once more in Season 13 (American Idol 2014) and made it to the top 20 this time. In the semifinal round, he was voted by America into the Top Five male contestants, giving him a spot in the season's Top 13.
