This video still holds up, proving how ahead of their time Cabaret Voltaire were. The distorted guitar and disembodied vocals were so CV. Favorite lyrics: "Make some time here, fingers free, Keep your hands on your chemistry". Now, where can I get one of those dream machines?

Am I reading too much into the symbolism of the video, or no? But, does this somewhat play tribute to "Nosferatu" (1929 Vampire movie) and John Waters' "Pink Flamingos" (see crib scene)?Anyway, I had not heard this song in a while. Thanks for posting the video.

I didn't think this was about masturbation when I was a kid. I thought it was about homosexual mutual masturbation!

The song is apparently about masturbation which does explain a lot of the imagry in the video.

i think the first scene of the guy staring at the object going around and around is based on burroughs and bryson gyson's "dream machine"

the thing that really gets me is that mute really cleaned up this version for their you tube channel while the transfer to the dvd compilation of "gasoline in your eye" is from vhs..uugghhh!!!

i know the scenes are influenced by old movies, off course "nosferatu" and " baby doll" but after all this time, i still can't figure the other scenes. i think the scene of woman falling on the bed (who i think is richard kirk's wife) is influenced by "Sunset Boulevard" but when she swings the lamp and Richard throwing the paint, i just don't know (haaaa...)
