From what I can tell, the big difference is a matter of who's version you like but there seems to be no B part bringing in the four chord in the second bar in Lost Indian and most versions of Lost Indian leave out the four chord on the fifth bar period.

Lost Indian is similar but this is definitely Cherokee Shuffle and the thing about Kenny Smith is he sure makes it look easy!

Kenny uses a Signature Blue Chip pick with rounded point and speed bevel. That pick helps facilitate his smooth, thin tone. They sell them with 2 normal and 1 Round point as well. A bit pricey but it definitely comes through in the sound and much easier to get than tortoise shell. Also man made material so no guilt over the endangered species thing. Chris Thile among many other great pickers use Blue Chip picks too. No I don't work for them and yes I do use one. Just want to get the word out to other looking to improve their playing an tone.

At that level best is a matter of personal taste. Sutton's playin is fast definitive and precise, Grier is the master at varying his approach to the melody, Kenny has the smoothest least punchy sound. That is the beauty of the acoustic guitar that the same tune can be played with such subtle difference.

Love these guys. Add Josh Williams to Kenny and Bryan and you have the best three current bluegrass pickers, IMHO. So many great musicians in bluegrass!

Sutton is such a beast. I love the way he pulls powerful tone out of the guitar. I teach his Daley's Reel at my lesson site, FiddlinMike. com. It's a tough one, but one of my favorites from his Bluegrass Guitar album.

I think Grier is the most creative and veers the furthest away from the actual melody. I've liked Kenny Smith for some time now and for those who enjoy his playing you should check out his album "return"

I've watched this a couple times,but hadn't noticed that Hurst plays in A without a capo, while everyone else plays out of G shapes. pretty unusual, and very cool.
